READING ATHLETIC CLUB was established in 1881 and over the years we have had many County, National, International, Commonwealth and Olympic Champions who have been or are still members of the Club and we are very proud of our long and successful history. In our 125th year a History of the Club was written by Brian Bacon and just some of the names mentioned in that history are Harry Whittle, E.H. Oliver, W.E.N. Breach, Ann Packer, Beverley Callender, Kathy Cook, and Gerry Stevens to mention just a few. Some of these still hold Club records, one of which the Senior Men's Long Jump record was set as long ago as 1937. Our current members are continuing our fine tradition of producing champion athletes.
