Medals galore at BB&O Cross Country Champs!!!!
Reading Ac's enjoyed a cluster
of medals at the Berks, Bucks and Oxon cross country championship held at Maidenhead. The weather during the day was far from
ideal, with gale force winds and driving rain really testing those who raced. However the athletes of Reading Ac
did not let it affect them as they secured medals in almost every age group! Female
Report The female side produced some fine results across the board.
The undoubted highlight was that of the senior ladies who quite simply dominated their race, as they were crowned team champions,
however the joy didnt end there as the club's b-team had performed well enough to secure the team bronze medals! Rachel Phillips
had the distinction of leading the victorious ladies team home with probably her best cross country performance to date in
a well fought 6th. Lucy Daniells made a return to form as she closely followed Phillips home. Andrea Curson undoubtely had
her best run to date as she completed the scoring team to secure the team gold's and the winners trophy. Caroline Stevens
led the b-team home, as she too produced her usual determined effort, also securing the individual bronze in the vets category
in the process. Shirley-Ann Dix did very well despite running with a knee injury, whilst Nicky Cooke completed the team and
earn them the bronze medals. The c-team also did well, Charlotte Phillips, Hayley Pearce and Liz Pellow all doing well. Run
in conjunction with the senior race was the u17 ladies race, run over the 6k course, which is 2k more than they have been
used to racing over, however the 4 girls who took part run quite superbly and will be great additions to the senior side in
a year or so. Like their senior counterparts the girls secured a dominant team victory. Naomi Forshaw had one of, if not her
best cross country run to date. She ran superbly and actually finished inside the top 10 seniors, she took the bronze in her

the team was Josie Hogge with an equally good performance for 9th to secure the winners trophy. Alyx Gregory was just outside
the team with a good effort of 12th. The under 15 girls again produced a very eye catching performance despite missing
a few other regulars. Beki Taylor again ran a much controlled disciplined race and was rewarded with the individual silver
medal. Cerys Aicken is beginning to put some real consistancy in her running and her confident, determined approach in races
is really paying off, she finished a terrific 5th position. Completing the team was Emma Taylor, who is again starting to
produce the form she is capable of, her 11th place finish saw the team secure the silver medals. Elsewhere, Bethan Taylor
had a pleasing effort, Natasha Harris-White gave a much improved performance. Becky Mrowiec, Emily Stone and Jess Stevens
also tackled the course. The under 13 girls saw yet another different trio of girls make up the scoring team, however as
with last week, it was Georgia Walton who led them home, as her confidence in her racing continues to grow. She finished a
decent 11th. Katherine West came through very strong at the latter part of the race to take the 2nd scoring slot, the final
scoring place saw Ella Saunders produce her best ever effort, producing a blistering sprint finish, she completed the team
that took the finished 5th. Elsewhere Lauren Herrington soon followed, with Alice Milsom finishing shortly after with
Lois Meredith just behind her. Andi Vietz was just behind whilst Abigail Froud bought the team home
