Recruitment
We are currently enjoying one of our most successful periods here at
Reading Athletic Club
We are currently enjoying one of our most successful
periods here at Reading Athletic Club, with our teams thriving in all age groups
from U11 right through to Senior's and Veteran's. However this success is only
possible through the hard work of the number of volunteer's who keep the club
going in their various jobs from Coaching to Team Managing to Officiating at
home and away fixtures.
With our ever growing success, comes a greater
demand for more volunteers at the club. If you feel you could spare some time to
help with any of the various jobs, we would love to hear from you. We are proud
of the fact we are a close knit club with some excellent support and we hope you
would like to get involved and play your part, no matter how large or small that
might be, in helping Reading Ac during one of their most successful periods in a
number of years.
Below is a list of some of the important
positions or vacancies we have at the club that may be of interest of you. Your
help in any area would be greatly appreciated. If any of the vacancies/positions
appeal to you, please contact the club secretary via the bottom of this page.
- Coaches
- As with any club, you can never have enough coaches. With our ever
increasing membership of athlete's were are looking to further widen our
coaching structure to accommodate new and existing member's to ensure all
are given quality coaching. No previous coaching experience is required,
there are a number of coaching courses during the year and the club are
happy to cover the costs incurred by these course for any volunteer who is
interested to becoming an athletics coach and coach at Reading Athletic
Club.
- Reception
- We are always looking for volunteers to man the club office on training
night's. This involves welcoming and registering new member's to the club.
- Refreshments
- At all our home matches, we provide an excellent spread of sandwiches etc
for all officials and team managers. We are looking for someone who might
like to help get involved or even coordinate this during the season. This is
again a job that is not hugely time consuming, with only 7-8 home fixtures
per season.
- Tea Bar
- Any volunteers for help in manning the Tea Bar on training night's is
always welcome, this need not be a regular job, the more volunteers we have,
it could be a case of helping out once or twice a month. If you wish to
offer your help, please speak to Alan Hatch on any training night at the
club.
- Athletics Officials
- Another important part of the club is that of being an athletics official.
It is these people that make sure fixtures run smoothly. We are always
looking for more people who maybe interested in becoming an official and
officiating for the club at home and away matches. Even more so nowadays as
in most league fixtures track and field officials score points towards the
match score! So it is very important we are able to field a full quota. We
are currently looking for volunteers who might want to get involved in
helping with officiating in the field events, or becoming a track judge or a
timekeeper. You don't need to become qualified right away, you can give it a
try, see if it's for you, if it is there are numerous courses held, in order
to become a qualified track and field official.
If you are interested in helping the club in some way, please feel free to speak to
us, we will be glad to hear from you.
If you wish to know more or would like to contact the club regarding anyway in which
you maybe be able to help out, please either contact the club secretary by email at: christine.bradfield@readingac.com or speak to any Reading Ac member on any training night, who will be happy to help further.
We look forward to hearing from you!!!
